Mr. Willis has tried to verdict over 100 cases in multiple jurisdictions in his over 20 years of practice. He has represented clients from individuals to Fortune 50 corporations. He has tried cases in both federal and state courts and he has represented clients before various administrative bodies. His appellate practice has included representation of clients before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Mr. Willis has focused his practice on complex commercial disputes involving manufacturers and suppliers, environmental disputes involving multi-party multi-state toxic torts, white collar criminal defense, employment and personal injury involving commercial carriers. Prior to his work at LMS, Mr. Willis’s professional career included managing litigation in-house for a Fortune 50 Corporation. He was responsible for investigations and trial strategies involving such matters as arson, fraud and personal injury. He conceived of combining all discovery across the country in one location thereby gaining efficiencies scale. This resulted in saving millions of dollars. Prior to his in house work he worked for a prestigious labor firm and represented numerous clients before various boards and commissions. He was able to successfully negotiate various contracts and arbitrate numerous disputes. He was also successful in recovering millions of dollars for personal injury clients. Prior to Mr. Willis’s labor work he was a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island. He tried numerous felony cases from First Degree Assault to vehicular accidents involving serious bodily injury. Mr. Willis was also involved in drafting various pieces of legislation while at the Attorney General’s Office. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office Mr. Willis was legal counsel to the Rhode Island House of Representatives, Minority Office. Mr. Willis was responsible for drafting legislation involving banking regulations. Prior to his work as legal counsel Mr. Willis was the executive director/legal counsel for a not for profit corporation. He was responsible for filing the 501c3 documents as well as drafting and filing various briefs dealing with the closure of many of the state’s banks. Education
